The ex-street children reintegration into society is one of the vital programs that aimed at improving the livelihoods of ex-street children. This study was conducted in Kinondoni District in the United Republic of Tanzania. The objective of the study was to explore the extent to which reintegration programs into society improve the livelihoods of ex-street children. The specifc objectives for the study were: i. To examine community’s perception of the reintegration of ex- street children ii. To examine ex-street children reintegration livelihood outcomes. iii. To identify measures for improving reintegration and livelihoods of ex-street children in Tanzania. iv. To examine role of civil society foundations in the reintegration programs in Kinondoni District. The study adopted a cross sectional research design, with a mixed method approach. The study used questionnaire, focus group discussion and in-depth interview. The study collected sample from 90 respondents using purposive sampling technique. According to the findings obtained from the field, few types of training were provided to ex-street children (9.4%) said that they were trained in tailoring and (4%) in hair cutting whereas (6.7%) were trained in hair dressing, (6.7%) in entrepreneurship. This implies that socio-economic reintegration support to ex-street children is difficult. The study demonstrated that most of ex-street children did not own directly productive assets. The findings also indicated that few of ex-street children got reintegration assistance. In addition, the findings revealed that livelihood were not successful in almost all indicators. Therefore, Social welfare department in this district and NGOs implementing agencies or ex-street children reintegration should encourage and intensify fundamental education such as life skills and literacy training for ex-street children who have not completed the whole period of their primary education.en_US
